FrogLube FAQs
You have questions, we're here to answer them
Do I need to use both the Solvent and the Lubricant to care for my weapon?
For best results, yes. Solvent is a degreaser and a bore cleaner. Dirty or excess lube cannot be removed by adding more lube. Lube should only be applied to a clean, dry and residue-free surface.
Does FrogLube clean copper and lead from the bore?
FrogLube’s system protects against copper fouling. Use both our cleaners and lubes to ensure complete performance. Both our cleaners, FrogLube Solvent™, and FrogLube Super Degreaser™ are formulated to clean copper. Solvent is ‘pre-formulated’ and is used right from the bottle. Super Degreaser is a concentrate and can be diluted. Full strength cleaning speeds up copper removal or is good for stubborn fouling jobs.
You should use our lubrication product as it is designed to work in conjunction with our cleaners. FrogLube lubricants ‘bond’ to the metal surface to form a protective barrier, season the barrel surface and protect the barrel from the build-up of any fouling including copper. Click here for FrogLube's Instruction page for the detailed procedure.
What temperature is FrogLube rated for use?
FrogLube has been tested in field conditions above +125ËšF and below -40ËšF. If you anticipate operating in cold temperatures, you should prepare your firearm by cleaning thoroughly with FrogLube degreasing solvents and removing any excess lube leaving a dry, slick surface.
Since FrogLube CLP bonds to the metal, your lube will function without a visible excess coating. FrogLube also recommends the use of FrogLube Extreme CLP™ if you expect to operate in the cold for an extended length of time.
How does FrogLube Work?
FrogLube is a heavy specific gravity “food grade” mixture that seeps deep into the micro spaces of the metal and acts as if to ‘season’ the surface of the bore, any friction points and all areas treated with the lube.
Once treated, fouling particles resist bonding to metal surfaces; instead, they easily wipe away or brush off the surface. This also applies to other loose fouling particles such as dirt, dust, and sand.
FrogLube does not film, nor is it a coating. Instead, it is a treatment that is absorbed throughout the firearm. It is water-insoluble and will repel water and resist corrosion.
How often should I use FrogLube?
You should follow the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure the weapon is unloaded before inspecting it for cleaning. Cleaning weapons regularly helps maintain reliability and extends the service life. You may choose to run a bore patch through the barrel before firing or when preparing the firearm for service to test for fouling particles or a blockage.
Inspect glide and friction points and cycle the action to check for smooth function.
Normally, firearms should be cleaned and maintained after every use. Apply FrogLube to glide and friction points in accordance with firearm instructions. After firing, when the barrel is hot, is a good time to apply FrogLube into the barrel as the heat will accelerate the absorption into the voids of the metal. After treatment, you will notice a marked reduction in friction and temperature. It is not necessary to do this after every use but should be done at regular intervals. You should ensure the excess FrogLube is removed by running a bore patch through the bore until it is clean and smooth.
Should I expect to receive the full FrogLube company support, warranty and customer services if I purchase FrogLube products on a marketplace such as Amazon, Ebay, Gunbroker, etc
Unfortunately, No, if FrogLube is not purchased from an “Authorized” FrogLube reseller, our ability to assist you is precluded. FrogLube products are increasingly available across the internet and growing in popularity with 3rd party resellers via the marketplaces.

If the reseller is not “Authorized”, and you purchase our products and find some issue, a defect or are dissatisfied in any way, or just find it impossible to communicate directly to that reseller, we cannot assist you in finding a resolution. Consumers should beware; you may find our products at a lower price on these marketplaces, but there may be a very good reason, that is the 3rd party reseller offers no warranty, customer support or even the expectation of a refund or response to your call or email. We recommend that before you buy, find out if the reseller is officially “authorized” to resell FrogLube.
